Holistic Massage

Massage has been used for over 4,000 years.   Hippocrates, the father of Western medicine, was a fan and Julius Caesar was massaged daily, although today we use “Swedish” massage to treat clients.

Holistic Massage is the systematised manipulation of soft tissue of various parts of the body, which helps the body to heal itself and to increase health and well-being.  Most recipients of a course of massage therapy feel more relaxed in their every day life.

When muscles are overworked, waste products such as lactic acid can accumulate in the muscle causing soreness, stiffness and even muscle spasm.

Massage improves circulation, which increases blood flow, bringing fresh oxygen to body tissues.  This can assist the elimination of waste products, speed healing after injury and enhance recovery from disease.

Therapeutic massage promotes general well-being, which enhances self-esteem, boosts the metabolism and, with regular treatments, maintains a healthy posture.  Massage also improves the circulatory and immune systems to benefit blood pressure, circulation, muscle tone, digestion and skin tone.
